Utappam - Andhra Style

Preparation Time: 5 minutes 
Cook Time : 4-5 minutes each 
Makes: 4


Idly Batter: 2 cups 
Onion: 1 chopped finely 
Green chilies: 2 chopped finely 
Ginger: 1 inch piece chopped finely 
Jeera/cumin: 1 tsp
Salt to taste 


Mix all the ingredients well. 

Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and pour in 2 medium laddles of batter. Spread it so it is even. Close the lid and cook for 2 minutes. (By now you should hear splatters) 
Open the lid and turn the utappam and add 1 tsp of oil around the edges. Cook for 2 minutes.

Take it off and serve hot with chutney. I served with homemade ginger chutney.
