Pulagamannam is made especially in Karthika Masam (Starts the day after Diwali) in Andhra on Mondays and on Full Moon day when we fast through out the day and offer puja in the evening and then break the fast.
Along with this, payasam is offered to God.
Cook Time : 10 minutes
Serves : 4-5
Ingredients :
Rice : 1.5 cups
Moong dal/ Pesarapappu : 1/2 cup
Oil : 1 tsp
Water : 4 cups
Salt : 1 tsp
Method:
Dry roast the moong dal until nice aroma comes out and they turn golden brown (for about 5 - 7 minutes).
Wash rice and dal, mix both together and add all the ingredients and cook in the pressure cooker for 3 whistles. Turn off the stove.
Serve hot with ghee, jaggery (bellam), pacchi pulusu and brinjal/eggplant chutney.
