Quick 10 minute Chana Masala

Preparation Time: 2 minutes 
Cook Time: 5-7 minutes 
Serves: 2-3


Chick peas/ Chana Dal : 1 ready to use container. (About 400gms)
Green chili -1
Onion: 1 medium diced
Turmeric: 1/2 tsp 
Ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp 
Red chili powder: 1/2 tsp 
Garam masala: 1/2 tsp 
Chat masala: 1/2 tsp 
Salt to taste.
Tomato: 1 diced (optional)


Heat oil in a pan and add onion and green chili. Once the onions turn translucent, add turmeric and ginger garlic paste, sauté for 30 seconds. Add tomato if you are using and cook for 1-2 minutes. 
Add the Chana and all the spices and mix well. The water content in the can is enough to cook. Mash up some Chana to get a good texture and cook until it thickens (about 3-4 minutes). Turn off the stove and serve hot with naan, roti or poori. 

On a busy work day, this is a great alternative to the regular Punjabi chole.
