Chana Pulav

I ate Chana Pulav when one of my neighbors made it several years back. I never tried to make it as hubby is not a big fan of Chana.
I just wanted to give it a try and see if kids are going to like it as I have the ingredients on hand and I'm really tired working long hours for the holiday season with little rest.... and this is a quick dinner.
The Pulav came out really good, hubby and kids actually liked it so here is the recipe....

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Serves : 4-5

Ingredients:
Basmati rice: 1.5 cups
Boiled Chana or tin : 1 cup
Potato : 1 diced
Tomato: 1 diced
Green pepper: 1 diced
Green chilies: 2 finely chopped
Cilantro/ coriander leaves: 1/2 cup chopped
Bay leaves: 2
Fennel seeds/Saunf : 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste: 1 tbsp
Red chili powder: 1/2 tsp
Garam masala: 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Water : 2 3/4 cups

Method:
Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes.
Heat 3 tbsp of ghee in a pan and add saunf and bay leaves. Fry for 1 minute. Add green chilies and ginger garlic paste and fry for 1 minute. Add Chana and potatoes. Cook for 3 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes. Add green pepper, cilantro, red chili powder and garam masala, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
Add water and bring it to a boil. Add drained rice and bring it to a boil again. Simmer the stove and close lid cook for 5-7 minutes until rice is done.
Let it rest for 5 minutes before opening the lid, fluff it with a fork and serve it hot with raita.
