Bread Pudla

Pudla is a batter spread on the tava made from besan/gram flour and water, with turmeric, minced chilies, green peppers, onions, chilli powder, lime juice, salt, cilantro and tomato. Once the batter is spread on the tava, it's cooked till both sides are turned into golden brown. 

Bread Pudla is very similar to that but just using white or wheat bread. The taste is amazing and the nutrients in the dish are a additional benefit especially if your children are against eating veggies.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes 
Cook Time: 15 minutes 
Serves : 2-3

White or Wheat bread : 4 slices cut diagonally 
Green pepper: 1 chopped finely 
Banana Pepper/ Mirchi Bajji : 1 chopped finely ( optional)
Green chili: 1 chopped finely 
Tomato: 1 medium chopped finely 
Lemon juice: 1/2 of a lemon or 1 teaspoon 
Besan/ gram flour: 1 cup 
Rice flour: 1/4 cup 
Red chili powder: 1 cup
Turmeric: 1/2 teaspoon 
Garam masala: 1/2 teaspoon 
Cilantro: 1/4 cup chopped finely 
Salt to taste 
Water : 1/2 cup 


Mix all ingredients except bread. 
Heat a griddle or a flat pan, smear some oil, dip the bread in the Besan mixture and place it on the pan. Pour 2 tablespoons of batter over each piece of bread and add some oil on to the edges of the bread. Once the bottom is fried, turn and cook on the other side. It should take about 1-2 minutes per side.
Serve hot with green and sweet chutney or simple ketchup will do too.
