Upma

Upma is a simple South Indian breakfast easy to digest for any ages. It's soft with  tempered dals. 
There are several varieties in Upma, this one is made with Sooji/ Bombai rava.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes 
Cook Time: 15 minutes 
Serves : 2

Ingredients:

Sooji/ Bombai Rava : 1 cup dry roasted
Onion : 1 medium cut in half and sliced
Green chilies: 3 slit 
Ginger: 2 inch piece chopped finely 
Curry leaves: 1 sprig 
Water : 3 cups 

For tempering:

Ghee : 1 tablespoon
Oil : 1 tablespoon
Chana dal/ split Bengal gram dal/ Senaga pappu : 1 tablespoon 
Urad dal/ Minappappu: 1 teaspoon 
Mustard seeds/Aavalu: 1 teaspoon 
Cashews : 2 tablespoons

Method:

Heat ghee and oil in a pan and add all the ingredients for tempering. Fry for 1 minute until the seeds splatter and dals are golden brown.
Add curry leaves, onions, green chilies and Ginger. Sauté till they turn translucent. Add water and bring it to a boil, add salt and Sooji a little by little by constantly mixing. Cook for 2-3 minutes and turn off the stove.
Serve hot adding some lemon juice.
