Ugadi Pachhadi

Ugadi Pachhadi is a traditional prasadam made on Telugu and Kannada New Years that is made with a combination of six flavors signifying that life is a combination of different emotions and feelings.
It's made with :
Neem flowers - for bitterness 
Jaggery - for sweetness 
Red chili flakes- for hotness 
Salt - for saltiness 
Tamarind extract - for sourness
Raw mango - for tang

There are some variations to the Pachhadi, depending on where you live in Andhra. Some of the ingredients that are added include cashews, cumin seeds, pepper instead of chilli flakes, putnalu, sliced banana. 

Preparation Time: 10 minutes 
Serves: 4

Ingredients:
Water: 1 1/2 cups
Raw mango : 3 tablespoons chopped 
Neem flowers: 1 tablespoon
Jaggery: 3 tablespoons 
Red chili flakes: one pinch
Salt: one pinch
Tamarind: size of a marble or 1 teaspoon extract 

Optional: 
Banana pieces 

Method:
Wash and soak tamarind and get the extract.
Take only the neem flowers off the sprigs.
Add jaggery to water and make sure it is melted before adding all ingredients to it. Mix well.
Offer to God and then serve to your loved ones.
